This medicine has been prescribed for your current condition, so do not use it in similar cases or recommend its use to others.

General instructions:

Before using this medicine, consult your doctor in the following cases:

If you are allergic to this medicine or any other substance such as food, preservatives, dyes, etc.

If you have a history of allergy to penicillins, cephalosporins and penems.

If you are taking warfarin.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding:

Cloxacillin should be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding under the supervision of a specialist.

Warnings:

Cloxacillin can cause severe allergic reactions. Therefore, if you have a history of allergy to medicines such as penicillins, cephalosporins and imipenem or meropenem, the medicine is contraindicated.

Cloxacillin is contraindicated in the case of vaccines containing attenuated bacteria.

In people taking warfarin, the patient’s PT should be monitored if cloxacillin is used.

Due to the slow elimination of cloxacillin in infants, this drug should be used with caution.

In the case of long-term use of the drug, the possibility of fungal infections such as candida increases.

In the case of long-term use of the drug, liver, kidney and blood function should be checked.

Dosage:

The dosage of the drug is determined by the attending physician for each patient. However, the usual dosage of the drug is as follows.

In adults:

Streptococcus aureus infection:

Take 500 mg every 6 hours.

Children:

Under 40 kg: 12.5 to 25 mg per day (divide the dose every 6 hours)

Over 40 kg: Take 250 to 500 mg every 6 hours.

How to take the medicine:

Take the medicine on an empty stomach (half an hour before meals or two hours after meals).

The medicine should be taken at specific times of the day.

If you take more than the prescribed amount, see a doctor.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip that dose and do not double the dose.

Avoid stopping the medicine suddenly.

Side effects:

In addition to the desired therapeutic effects, each medicine may have some unwanted side effects. If any of the following side effects occur, inform your doctor.

Important side effects that require doctor’s notice if they occur:

Severe allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, tongue, lips, difficulty breathing, itching and skin rashes and low blood pressure.

Less common side effects:

Abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea.

Rare side effects:

Anemia, fever, pseudomembranous colitis, kidney inflammation, kidney failure, seizures, vomiting and vaginal inflammation.

Storage conditions:

Store the medicine at a temperature below 30 degrees Celsius, away from light and moisture.

Avoid using expired medicine.

Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.

This medicine is produced and supplied in capsules containing 500 mg of cloxacillin as sodium in boxes of 100 by Afa Chemie Pharmaceutical Company.

Cloxacillin is used to treat infections caused by penicillinase-producing Staphylococcus species. Cloxacillin is used to treat bacterial infections and does not treat viral infections such as the flu or the common cold.

This drug is bactericidal. By binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins in the bacterial cell wall, it inhibits the final stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis, thereby killing growing and dividing bacteria.

50% of the drug is absorbed orally, which is reduced in the presence of food. Its serum concentration reaches its peak after 1-2 hours.

The half-life of the drug is 0.5-1 hours, which increases to 2.5 hours in cases of renal impairment.

30-60% of the drug is excreted unchanged by the kidneys.

Tetracyclines

Drug Effects Increased by Cloxacillin:
Dichlorphenamide, Methotrexate, Vitamin K Antagonists

Drug Effects Increased by Cloxacillin:
Acemethacin, Probenecid
