Enalapril belongs to the class of blood pressure control drugs that reduce blood pressure in the veins by excreting some salts and fluids through the urine and lightens the load on the heart and kidneys. This drug may be prescribed to reduce high blood pressure, treat heart failure.

ACEI (angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor) such as enalapril, by inhibiting the production of angiotensin II, causes blood vessels to dilate and also reduces the amount of water returned to the blood, and overall, the effects of this drug lead to a decrease in blood pressure in the body.
Heart failure is a condition in which the heart cannot work as well as normal. For this reason, disturbances in blood flow occur. Enalapril helps reduce the complications caused by reduced heart function. This drug slows the progression of heart failure with its protective effect on the heart. This protective effect also reduces the risk of cardiovascular problems in people at risk.

Digestive absorption of enalapril is about 60%. This drug is converted into an active metabolite after metabolism. The effect of the drug begins after one hour and reaches its peak after 4-6 hours. This drug is excreted by 60% through the kidneys and 33% through the feces.
